Tumalo Lake Lodge is an excellent location for bird watching. Resident water fowl, including multiple varieties of ducks, blue heron, trumpeter swan, osprey, golden eagle, and bald eagle have been spotted here as well as great horned owl, wild turkey and pileated woodpecker.
Nearby Tumalo Falls with riparian, burned forest, and some marsh habitat surrounded by ponderosa pine forest feature resident Blue Grouse, Pygmy Nuthatch, Mountain Chickadee, Dark-eyed Junco, Red Crossbill, and American Dipper; nesting species include Nashville and MacGillivray’s Warblers, Williamson’s Sapsucker, and Western Tanager.
